History

And Nathanael said unto him, "Can there any good thing come out of
Nazareth?"  Philip saith unto him, "Come and see," St. Matthew 1:46

In the scripture above, Philip had met Jesus and had become a disciple.
Afterward, he was communicating to
Nathanael about the Messiah.

Immediately, Nathanael asked, Can any good thing come out of such a
town of Nazareth?   Without responding, Philip said, "Come and see."

This scripture is used in reference to WMOC 88.7 FM which is located in
Lumber City, GA., a very small town in southeast Georgia with a
population of less than fifteen hundred people and a 50,000 watts 24/7
FM Christian/Educational Radio Station reaching many with the good
news of Jesus.  WMOC has a mileage range of 60-90 miles in each of the
four directions.

It is Lumber City, GA., where a man named William Hollis lived.  God
gave him the vision to build a radio station in the 1970's.  This man has
the heart of God.  He has always wanted to see souls saved, sick bodies
healed and the gospel message to get out.  He always wanted to spread
the good news and he saw radio as a mean of communication.

For over twenty years, he had a broadcast on another secular radio
station.  His broadcast was entitled "The Mind of Christ Broadcast."  But
he could only be on the AM dial, which only gave him limited coverage.

Bishop Hollis began to say, "I want to build a radio station for the little
people, giving them an opportunity to share the gospel of Jesus Christ
and to reach out into many cities and town." So he sought for ways and
means to build a station which would glorify God.

After much prayer and seeking God, God touched Brother Eddie
Conaway, who serves as manager of WMOC, to encourage Bishop Hollis
and to stand with him in faith.  Eddie said to him, "Bishop, I have always
wanted to be a disc jockey."  Eddie was there with Bishop Hollis to give
him the moral support he needed.

Before long, plans were set in motion.  The long task of paperwork was
first and foremost.  God sent Bishop Hollis a good engineer to steer him
in instructions of how to apply for the radio permit.  This person was
none other than Mr. Jim Slawson.  Mr. Slawson was chief in the field of
engineering and he knew what steps were best for Bishop Hollis to take.

To help with the legal part of the permit, God directed Bishop Hollis to
Federal Communication Commission Lawyer John McVeigh.  He had
been our lawyer from the beginning and he is still our lawyer.

After about five years of communication, the permit was granted to build
the radio station.  At the time, the Federal Communication Commission
gave Bishop Hollis eighteen months to build it and to sign on air.

To raise the much needed funds, fund-raisers were held.  Donations
began to pour in from all around, some donations as far away as New
York, Florida and different places in Georgia.  It seemed as fast as the
money was raised, it was spent.

Throughout the long faithfully journey of preparation, God was walking
beside Bishop Hollis and leading him in right directions.  Every time
there was a mountain to climb, Bishop was able to climb it.  With every
valley experiences, God was there, encouraging him every step of the
way until completion.

Also along the way, God prepared Elect Lady Estella Hollis' heart,  the
bishop's wife, to encourage him.  She was there giving him the added
strength and courage to complete the task God has assigned to him.

Thanks be to God on April 7, 1997, WMOC 88.7 FM became a reality by
signing on air.  When it signed on, it has one disc jockey and the
manager and it was being in operation from 6 a.m - until 12 midnight.  It
was such a hit in this small town and neighbouring towns, its hours of
operation was extended to twenty four hours a day after a few short
months.

Currently, WMOC 88.7 FM aired the very best in good gospel music,
preaching, teaching, and educational programs.  It has a talk show.  At
noon Monday through Saturday, it airs the funeral announcements,
community, churches and businesses announcements.  Also, it offers a
variety of  (PSAs) Public Service Announcements ranging in topic from
health, family, marriage, and spiritual humor.

Romans 8:31 declares, "If God be for us, who can be against us."  We
give all of the glory, the praise and the honor to God for this station for
we know this could not have been accomplished without the help of the
good Lord.

WMOC 88.7 FM is not a radio station, but a radio ministry fulfilling the
Great Commission.  Its aim is to reach the lost, those in prisons and jails
with Gospel. Through WMOC, the people who are not able to attend
church can hear the Gospel message over the air waves.  Through the
night, when sleeplessness set in, one can turn on the radio to listen to
good inspirational music.   Also, we want to give the local communities
the opportunity to hear good gospel music through the week days--all
day and all night continually.

WMOC 88.7FM is God's Radio Ministry.  It belongs to Himbut He had
entrusted Bishop Hollis and the Staff to operate it for Him.

Now do you think any good thing can come of Lumber City?  Come and
see.  Better yet, set your radio dial on 88.7 FM, listen and enjoy.
